Trek the beautiful Simien mountains of Northern Ethiopia, experiencing the unique terrain and wildlife,including Gelada Baboons, the Ethiopian wolf and Walia Ibex.Prices start at €1850 euros per person sharing. 

Our 11 day package brings you to the Simien Mountains National Park and to the UNESCO World heritage site to view the rock hewn churches of Lalibela,which is still a very spiritual place for Ethiopia`s christians.We also visit Gondar to see the ancient Royal Enclosure with it`s impressive castles and churches.

On arrival in Ethiopia we will spend time seeing the sights of Addis Ababa and on our last day we will have time to visit the markets for some shopping.

International flights, Travel/ Medical Insurance, Vaccinations,Entry Visa, meals while in cities and items of a personal nature are NOT included in our price.

Our price includes: 3 internal flights, guided tours in cities, National Park fees,guide fees, scout fees, mules and mule handlers, camping equipment, meals on trek(except on the first day which is dinner only), airport transfers, guesthouse/hotel in cities and an Into the West Adventures representative.

Pick up from airport and guided city tour of Addis
Ababa. Included is a visit to the National and/or Ethnological museum,
merkato - Africa’s largest open air market and Entoto – the hills
surrounding Addis (~ 3000 m altitude) where King Menelik II built his
first residence that still exists today next to his museum and a
location where you get excellent views of the city.

DAY2 :Fly from Addis to Gondar
Picked up from the airport and then you go to the small town of Debark, the
gateway to the Simien Mountains.This will take about 3 hours by car on a
bumpy road (soon to be asphalted). At Debark - where the headquarters of the park are
located – we will complete the entrance formalities and collect the
scout. After a one hour stop in Debark you will drive another hour into
the park to the of the start of the trek.You will trek to Sankaber (2
hours), enjoy beautiful views, make a campfire and sleep at (altitute

Day 3: 
Today you trek to Gich Camp. You will pass through farmed areas and also the
village of Gich.During the 5-6 hour trek there will be the possibility to
spot the endemic Gelada Monkeys, Klipspringers (a small mountain
antelope), Menelik Bushbacks and many interesting plants. You will also
see the Jinbar waterfalls which flow over a 500 metre cliff. The last
part of the walk to Gich is gentle and takes about 2 hours. Camp at Gich

Day4 : 
Today you will use Gich camp as your base.You will walk up to the summit of
Imetgogo (3926m), a high rocky outcrop on the edge of the escarpment to
the east of the camp, with spectacular views north and east across the
foothills and plains.On the way to Imetgogo you will walk through fields
of the endemic Giant Lobeliaplants, these can grow up to 8 metres high.
Thenyou walk back to Saha to see the other side of Imetgogo. You are
likely to see Klipspringers, Walia Ibex (a wild goat, endemic to the
Simiens), and many spectacular birds including the Lammergeyer. Total
trekking time is 4-5 hours giving time to relax, absorb the beautiful scenery

Day 5: 
From Gich you will walk first southwards and then east to follow the crest
of a broad ridge. Today's trek offered some of the most spectacular
views of the whole trek. The views in all directions are dramatic and
ever changing as the sun moves through the day. After a 3-4 hour morning
trek you will have your lunchbreak at the head of the Inatey valley
(4070m) before continuing along of the Belegez valley to our final
destination of the day - the camp at Chennek. From Chennek you can
see over the escarpment edge and across the foothillsThis is a good
place to spot Walia Ibex and more Gelada monkeys. Total trekking time
for the day is 8-9 hours.

Day 6: .Cheneck-Buahit Peak-Cheneck
Climb the 2nd highest Mountain in Ethiopia called Buahit-4430m which is only 150m less than the highest top Rasdashen.It takes about 3.5hrs to the summit and 2hrs to get back to Cheneck.During this trip,you will be rewarded spectacular views as well as some endemic animals the like of Ibex and possibly the Abyssinian wolf if you are lucky!Overnight stay in Cheneck.

Day 7:
Morning after breakfast drive back to Gondar in which you will arrive around 11.30 am,take a shower and afterwards explore sight-seeing in Gondar the
like of the Royal enclosure,Swimming pool and Debirebirhan Silassie
church the so called the light of trinity.

Early morning transfer to Gonder airport. You’ll be picked
up at Lalibella Airport and transferred to your central hotel. Lalibella
is world famous for its monolithic rock hewn churches. Carved by hand
out of solid rock in the 12th and 13th Centuries and awash with the
chanting of monks, this is a deeply spiritual place and quite rightly a
UNESCO World Heritage site. You’ll get to visit most of the Central
churches that Lalibella is so famous for including the Northern Group
(containing the Lalibella Cross)

DAY 9: Asheton Mariam
Tour remote church clusters in Lalibella, you can
choose to walk or ride a rented mule up to Asheton Maryam Church,
situated at about 3100 meters. Here you are rewarded with spectacular

views of Lalibela town and surrounding valleys.


After breakfast transfer to the airport and then fly back to Addis, transport and a guide will be available until you transfer to the airport for an early morning flight home.
